Carol Klein
Carol J. Klein, age 82, of Appleton, passed away peacefully at Peabody Manor on Friday, March 24, 2017 while recovering from her second hip replacement. Carol was born in Milwaukee on December 28, 1934 to the late Andre and Dagney (Ericksen) Miller. She graduated from Appleton High School. In 1954, she was united in marriage to Nick W. Klein at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton. The couple enjoyed 57 years until Nick’s passing in 2011. Carol was an avid card player and ran the Marathon Bridge Club for many years. She also enjoyed going to the casino and took great pride in being a seamstress. She was a life-time member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Appleton VFW Post 2778 and was also a member at Zion Lutheran Church.

She will be missed by her daughter, Kathleen “Katie” Michalkiewicz, San Angelo, TX; two sons: Nick R. (Kathleen) Klein, Appleton, and Kurt W. (Karen) Klein, Athens, WI; 4 grandchildren: Dawn (Aaron), Nick A. (Angela), Kyle W., and Kelli J. Klein; 6 great-grandchildren: Thea Klein, Kenneth Gutzman, Nick J., Samuel H., Benjamin J., and Allison M. Klein; a great-great grandson, Isiah; 2 sisters-in-law: Lois Miller, Milwaukee and Mary Klein, Appleton. She is further survived by nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Andre and Dagney Miller, husband Nick W. Klein, 2 brothers: Marius and Raymond Miller; son-in-law Mike Michalkiewicz, brother-in-law Richard Klein, and sister-in-law Barbara Miller.

A funeral service will take place at 11 am on Saturday, April 1, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel with Rev. Leon Knitt officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 9 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Heritage Community and to the staff at Peabody Manor for the compassionate care shown to Carol
