Obituary for Donald King
Donald H. King, age 91, of Seymour, died on May 8, 2017. Don was born in Warren, Pennsylvania on December 2, 1925, the son of the late John E. King and Luella (Morrow) King. He graduated from Tidioute High School in 1943 and served as a medic with the U.S. Navy during WWII. On September 1, 1950 he was united in marriage to Lois Newgreen in Warren, Pennsylvania. Don and Lois had a son George and a daughter Amy. They were married 66 years when Lois passed away on November 19, 2016.
Don also served on active duty during the Korean Conflict and retired from the Naval Reserve in 1985 with the rank of CWO-4. He was a charter member of VFW Post 8803 in Tidioute, Pennsylvania. Don was employed in the construction field that allowed him to live in a number of places. His last project was with Franklin Co. of Philadelphia at Hercules Aerospace in Salt Lake City, UT and was completed in 1988.
Don was a member of the Olive-Temple Masonic Lodge No. 557 F&AM in Tionesta, Pennsylvania and Lodge No. 349 in Appleton. He was also affiliated with Scottish Rite Valley in Oil City and Coudersport, Pennsylvania along with the Beja Shrine in Green Bay.
He is survived by his son, George (Julia) King of Spearfish, South Dakota; daughter Amy (James) Clinchard of El Dorado Hills, California; four grandchildren: Emily Rose King of McAllen, Texas, William, Jackson and Benjamin Clinchard of El Dorado Hills, Californian; one sister Allene Covey of Rochester, New york, as well as two nephews, a niece, and several cousins.
Don was preceded in death by his wife and a sister Mary Lou King Schnicke.
Military Honors for Don will be held at 12:30 p.m. at HIGHLAND MEMORIAL PARK on Friday, May 12, 2017. Friends may call from 12:00 NOON until the time of Military Honors. Entombment will take place directly following the honors.
